How each product works
Lowkey Buzzer lets you forward your callbox calls to multiple phone numbers and manage access codes for guests. Hosts can set up timed access codes that activate and expire on dates they specify -- which means the host sets the start and end date for each code. Activity logs show when each code was used, and alerts notify the host when an incorrect or disabled code is attempted.
Chimekey reads your booking calendar directly. When a reservation is created on Airbnb, VRBO, or Booking.com, Chimekey generates a unique code for that guest automatically. The code activates at the check-in time shown in the reservation and expires at checkout. If the reservation is cancelled or modified, the code updates accordingly. No dates are entered manually.
Booking platform integrations
Lowkey Buzzer is listed in the Guesty marketplace, which means hosts using Guesty as their PMS may be able to connect Lowkey through that ecosystem. Outside of Guesty, Lowkey does not list direct integrations with Airbnb, VRBO, or Booking.com. Access codes appear to be managed manually with host-defined date ranges.
Chimekey integrates directly with Airbnb, VRBO, and Booking.com via iCal calendar sync, plus Hospitable via API for real-time updates. The connection to booking data is the foundation of how Chimekey works -- codes do not exist independently of reservations.
Manual vs. automatic code management
The distinction between manual and automatic code management matters more as booking volume increases. With timed codes that require date entry per guest, a host with five units and thirty bookings per month is creating and managing thirty codes by hand. Any mistake -- a wrong date, a forgotten deactivation after an early checkout, a code not created before a same-day booking -- is a potential failed check-in.
With calendar-synced automatic codes, those thirty codes are created, activated, and expired without any host action. Same-day bookings are covered. Early checkouts deactivate the code. Cancellations remove access immediately. The only action required is the initial setup.
Compatible callbox systems
Lowkey works with apartment and condo buzzers that can be configured to forward calls to a mobile number. Specific compatible brands are not listed publicly.
Chimekey publishes a verified list of compatible brands: DoorKing, Linear, Mircom, Aiphone, Viking, Fermax, and Comelit. If your building's system is not on that list, ask about compatibility before signing up.

Which should you choose?
Lowkey Buzzer is worth exploring if you are already using Guesty as your PMS and want an access tool that fits into that ecosystem. Its activity logging and alert features are solid for a product focused on individual hosts.
Chimekey is the better fit if you want codes created and expired automatically from your booking calendar, if you manage more than a handful of units, or if Slack alerts and webhooks are part of how your team operates. The elimination of manual code management is the core reason most multi-unit operators choose it.
